Wood Fired Kiln

The kiln is an adaptation of a "train" kiln.  It has a bourry type firebox 3' x 5' x 5.5' tall, that opens to the ware chamber.  The ware chamber is a catenary arched tube 4' x 4' x 7.5' long with a side loading door, similar to an anagama.  At the other end is the chimney, standing 18' tall.  The firebox and chimney are generous in size, to insure that reaching temperature is not a problem.  The kiln has been fired in as little as 16 hours.  Although, typical firings last between 24-35 hours, depending on the type of pots being fired.
